Description

U -- The Army's Office of the Assistant Secretary for Installations and Environment and the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will co-sponsor a Small Business Forum on October 6, 2000 in Linthicum, Maryland. The forum will focus on the Army's Residential Communities Initiative (RCI) to privatize approximately 16,000 housing units at four pilot sites -- Fort Carson, Colorado; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Lewis, Washington; and Fort Meade, Maryland. Through RCI, the Army is partnering with private developers to revitalize and manage our family housing stock, and develop livable communities for our soldiers and their families. The one -- day event will spotlight unique opportunities for small businesses to participate in the development, renovation, maintenance and operations of residential communities on Army posts. The morning session will provide an overview of the RCI program, and the afternoon session will involve a workshop and panel discussion featuring small and disadvantaged business utilization from the development partners we have selected for the Fort Carson, Fort Hood, and Fort Lewis projects. The Fort Meade partner submissions are presently being evaluated and will not be awarded until late October.
