Description

The City of Fayette requests proposals for furnishing all labor and materials including all site work required for construction of a new Main Post Office building within the City of Fayette, AL. Proposals to construct will be received until 3:00PM CST on SEPTEMBER 29, 2000, and will thereafter be opened at City Hall, City of Fayette. Bids must be submitted in a form furnished and contained within the job plans and specifications. Proposals shall be clearly identified on the exterior of bid package with the bidder's name, address, state contractor's license number, name of project, date, name, time and place of bid opening. All proposals must be received by the City of Fayette BEFORE bid opening day and time. All other bids received thereafter, shall not be considered and returned unopened to bidder. The construction contract shall be awarded only to qualified contractors acceptable to the U.S. Postal Service, the City of Fayette, and licensed by the State Licensing Board for general contractors as required by Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, which requires construction contracts in excess of $50,000.00 be awarded only to contrctors licensed in accordance with State Licensing Law. All bids shall be submitted by the City of Fayette to the U.S. Postal Service for consideration of past experience and bider qualifications. A cashier's check drawn on an Alabama Bank or a bid bond executed by a surety company duly authorized and qualified to make such bonds in the State of AL, payable to the City of Fayette in the amount of 5% of the amount of bid must be included with the bidding documents. Performance and Labor and Materialmen's Bonds in the amount of 100% of the contract price will be required when the contract is presented by the contractor to the owner. The City has designated that bid documents will be available for examination at the Plan Room of F.W. Dodge Corp. and City Hall, City of Fayette. Two sets of bid documents will be issued by the City of Fayette to qualify bidders upon the deposit of $75.00 per set by check payable to: "The City of Fayette." This deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE and is intended to cover the cost of reproduction and handling. Any award made under this bid will be made to the bidder based upon cost, overall project economics, past job performance, and other factors most advantageous to the City of Fayette. The City of Fayette reserves the right to negotiate with any or all bidders as to any or all terms and conditions of the proposal; to secure proposals in addition to those offered initially in response to this bid without waiving its right to accept the proposal of bids as submitted; or to reject any and all bids. All bidders must satisfy themselves as to all site conditions located within the premises prior to submitting any bid to the City of Fayette. The successful bidder must comply with all federal, state and municipal laws, codes and regulations, including those of the state and local highway departments. The City of Fayette requires a minimum of 90 days for processing the acceptance of the bids.
