The NIAID intends to procure the following upgrade items as a Sole Source commercial item acquisition from Microcosm, Inc. (a) Cable set for 410A, Quantity (1) (b) Computer for the Laser Scanning Microscope, LSM 410, Quantity (1) (c) Cooled PMT and Power Supply, Quantity (2) (d) Z-NT-Digitizer, Quantity (1) (e) Standard Optical Upgrade, Quantity (1) (f) Z-NT-410 Software, Quantity (1) Specification and required features: Windows NT 4.0 multi-tasking operating environment operating system; Intuitive User graphical Interface to configure and operate LSM. Modern, fast control electronics to provide greater speed, enhanced performance and flexibility, plus easier to repair and upgrade. 10x state of the art image acquisition technology improved image capture speed. 10 bit video digitizer and 8x greater contrast resolution. Pentium power performance 3-d rendering and numerical analysis, with "plug in" upgrade. Network support native to the operating system. Network based image storage included, and remote access and diagnostics, via the Internet. Scaleable performance built on an expandable base, software supported multiple processors and DSP's. Open system software that itself programmable so other applications running on the same computer can control it. This makes custom experiment programming easy. Trade in and credit for existing Microcosm computer. This computer will be attached and programmed to run a Confocal Microscope LSM 410. Delivery shall be to the National Institutes of Health, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland, 20892, F.O.B. destination.
