- Description
- The original synopsis is amended as follows. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This requirement is unrestricted and the solicitation number is N00604-00-T-A627. The fire control system shall have the following characteristics. The system shall consist of a main cylinder that can be discharged either automatically and/or manually. A reserve cylinder shall be connected to the main cylinder, manually operated, to back up the main cylinder in case the main fails or does not put out the fire. The manual operation shall have two locations, (1) located at the coxswain flat, (2) located near the engine compartment by the exhaust stacks. There will be both audible and visual alarms, located at the coxswain flat on the gage panel. The visual/audible alarms will consist of: (1)Light indicating that the system is in standby, power on (no audible alarm), (2)Light indicating that the sensor in the engine compartment has reached 250 deg f, audible alarm sounds, (3) Light indicating that the sensor in the engine compartment has reached 360 deg f, and/or there is a rapid rise in temperature, system will automatically discharge, (4) Light indicating discharge/release of agent after the 30 sec time delay, audible alarms sounds. There shall be a reset/silence button, to insure that the crew shall hear all three alarm stages. The discharge of the main cylinder shall have a 30 sec time delay. The exhaust fans shall be shut down during the 30 sec time delay, as applicable per vessel. The system shall discharge and the agent will maintain its concentration within the protected area for at least 15 min. Proposals must be received no later than 3:30pm,HST, 20 September.
