Description
The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to issue an order under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures to either Responsive Systems Company of Morganville, NJ or to IBM Corporation for the annual lease/maintenance on proprietary software product Buffer Pool Tool for the period October 1, 2000 through September 30, 2001. The software lease/maintenance is currently known to be available only through either IBM or Responsive Systems. Buffer Pool Tool was originally purchased by SSA from the proprietor, Responsive Systems, and is currently installed on SSA's systems 71 and 75 (respectively, a Hitachi Skyline 827 running at 975 MIPS and a Hitachi Skyline 825, 780 MIPS) under a parallel sysplex environment. This synopsis constitutes the only announcement on the particular requirements described herein. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response hereto shall not be honored or acknowledged. However, any responsible firm that feels it has the capability to provide SSA the required maintenance/lease may write to the referenced contracting officer. All responses must be written and received by September 26, 2000 for consideration. Respondents should refer to BPT00-JCE. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided. If no affirmative written responses are received by this date, to the effect that a comparable source exists other than Responsive Systems or IBM, an order will be placed, based on simplified acquisition procedures, with either of them for the Buffer Pool Tool lease/maintenance.
