Description
White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), New Mexico, anticipates providing services to commercial entities under the provisions of Title 10 of the United States Code, Section 2861. The general nature of the anticipated commercial work involves planning, execution, and reporting results of Development Test (DT), Operational Tests (OT), and production units (fly-to-buy and stock-pile-realibility) on a variety of materiel including theater missile defense, tactical missiles, air defense, air-to-air, air-to-ground, and fire support systems. WSMR occupies 3,200 square miles in south-central New Mexico and possesses a state-of-the-art support infrastructure consisting of a new Range Control Center, communications facilities, display facilities, launch sites, extensive instrumentation systems, over 3,000 precisely surveyed instrumentation sites, and impact areas. WSMR provides off range target sites for medium and intermediate ballistic missiles launched to support extended range tests. The range instrumentation, acquires and tracks objects in flight to provide data for computing flight parameters such as position, velocity, acceleration, attitude, intercept, miss distance, and object internal measurements. WSMR also provides ground and flight safety, impact location support, and explosive ordnance disposal. WSMR operates facilities that provide a full spectrum of battlefield environments for testing. Testing covers such things as nuclear, electromagnetic, directed energy, climatic and dynamic. WSMR has facilities to store ordnance and propellants, assemble missile systems, provide target support and launch missiles/drones. Other work conducted at WSMR involves development and acquisition of range instrumentation systems for WSMR and other test centers, and operation of the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) at Ft. Huachuca. EPG plans, conducts, and provides technical reports of new electronic systems, including command, control, communications, computers, intelligence (C4I), and electronic warfare equipment. WSMR services and facilities are available to all DoD agencies, other United States Government agencies, foreign governments, universities, research and development laboratories, and private industry on a cost reimbursable basis. Private sector entities are invited to submit expressions of capability to perform services of the same general nature as listed above. This information will be maintained in a file and made available to prospective commercial customers for their use in determining if private sector enterprises may be able to satisfy their requirements.
