Description

NASA/LaRC plans to issue a IFB for Rehabilitation of Information Media Center, Building 1152, West Area, Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA. The Work includes a Base Bid and one Additive Bid as follows: Base Bid: Architectural/Structural: Removal of existing interior walls, removal of existing finishes, acoustical ceilings and carpet; provide new interior hardware, interior finishes, new doors and hardware, and miscellaneous interior modifications, exterior modifications including new handicapped accessible ramp, new steps, railings and concrete walkway. Mechanical: Removal of existing mechanical equipment, duct work, and sprinkler system; provide new plumbing fixtures, mechanical equipment, air distribution equipment, and modifications and extensions of wet pipe fire suppression system. Electrical: Removal of existing electrical equipment, panel boards, light fixtures, wiring devices, fire alarm, and communications systems; provide new power and lighting fixtures, new fire alarm and communication equipment. Additive Bid No.1: Architectural/Structural: Provide new elevator/lobby addition including: Demolition of existing structures, foundations, masonry walls, windows and doors, interior finishes, built-up roofing, and concrete steps and railings. Mechanical: Provide new mechanical equipment for elevator/lobby addition including: air distribution system, and modifications and extensions of wet pipe fire suppression system. Electrical: Provide electrical equipment for elevator/lobby addition including: power and lighting, fire alarm and commiunications equipment. The order of magnitude for the procurement is $500K to $1M and the effort shall be completed within 270 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The SIC Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 1542 and $27.5M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about October 6, 2000 with an anticipated bid closing date of on or about November 7, 2000. The firm date for receipt of bids will be stated in the IFB. Drawings only will be available from the Bid Distribution Office 757-864-2547. All QUALIFIED responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement [with the exception of the drawings] will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
