Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) sub part 12.6., as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The Air Force Medical Logistics Office/Veterans Affairs Special Services intends to negotiate on a sole source basis a Purchase Order to Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. for the purchase of 1 Ethicon Mammotome Hand Held Biopsy System, Model MSET4. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-2, Unusual and Compelling Urgency and FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Because this equipment is also a brand name requirement, Government believes Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. is the only vendor that can satisfy the agency requirements described above. A J&A for Other than Full and Open Competition has been prepared in support of this acquisition. Delivery, which shall be FOB Destination, shall occur not later 30 October 2000. No solicitation is available. The following FAR clauses are added by reference: FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to Offeror -- Commercial Items; FAR 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certification -- Commercial Items; FAR 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions -- Commercial Items.
