Description
The Natural Gas Vehicle Industry Infrastructure Working Group (NGV-IWG) is soliciting proposals entitled "Advanced Fueling Appliance Technology" to develop an advanced vehicle fueling appliance (VFA) that can provide residential and on-site, commercial fueling of natural gas vehicles. Technology has been available for compressed natural gas (CNG) VFAs since the late 1980s, but the technology has always been expensive, difficult to permit for installation in residential, commercial, and industrial applications, and maintenance requirements have been intensive and expensive. The existing technology also requires 240V electrical supply, separate gas drying capacity, and separate safety and ventilation systems. Because of these limitations, introduction of this technology into residential fueling applications has not met initial industry expectations. This solicited effort is intended to develop an advanced VFA that can provide low-cost, on-site, residential fueling of natural gas vehicles in the short-term; and potentially provide, residential fueling of hydrogen-fueled vehicles in the longer-term. The NGV-IWG is an industry/government research, development, and demonstration program, whereby high-priority NGV infrastructure projects are funded jointly by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Gas Research Institute (GRI), and other industry and government partners. Please note that all proposals must be submitted electronically through the NGV-IWG website. Proposals in response to RFP No. 0000001012 are due to the NGV-IWG website no later than 5:00 p.m. CST, 10 November 2000.
