Description
NASA, MSFC intends to issue a solicitation for the broad range of systems engineering and risk reduction research activities. The subject NRA will solicit U.S. industry, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and U. S. Government agencies (acting as part of a team lead by industry or academia) for both systems engineering and risk reduction activities to meet 2nd Generation RLV Program goals and objectives. Offerors may propose a variety of research investigations including integrated RLV architectures, systems engineering approaches, architecture trades, business analysis, and required risk reduction activities. This solicitation will encompass a total of 10 technology areas. These areas will consist of the following: TA-1: System Engineering and Architecture Definition TA-2: Airframe Risk Reduction TA-3: Vehicle Subsystems Risk Reduction TA-4: IVHM Risk Reduction TA-5: Operations Risk Reduction TA-6: Upper Stages Risk Reduction TA-7: Flight Mechanics Risk Reduction TA-8: Proposal Risk Reduction TA-9: NASA Unique Risk Reduction TA-10: Flight Demonstration Risk Reduction A draft NRA for information will be released on or about September 20, 2000, and the NRA which contains a more detailed description will be released on or about October 10, 2000. Comments on the draft NRA should be submitted in writing not later than 3:00 p.m. CST on October 03, 2000. A briefing for potential offerors is planned to be held at MSFC, Building 4200, Morris Auditorium, on October 13, 2000, beginning at 9:00 a.m. CST. Copies of the draft NRA will be available only via downloading from the Internet. The draft NRA will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
