Description

The Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) at Edwards AFB intends to award a sole source contract to NEXTEL VPN for a wireless communication system to augment Land Mobile Radio (LMR), paging and telephone services. The determination to award sole source was based on the government's evaluation of responses to a sources sought synopsis published on 10 March 2000. This award will include a handheld subscriber unit, which provides Private, and Group radio calls, 2 way paging, telephone, voice-mail and data requirements. The overall system will seamlessly integrate with existing LMR and paging equipment in a campus style architecture. The system shall provide wide area coverage over the entire base. The subscriber units will be managed and configured by government personnel, this includes fleetmap structure and subscriber configuration.
