Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the Product Data Exchange using STEP(PDES) Inc., North Charleston, South Carolina, on a sole source basis for a 2-year membership in the PDES, Inc. Consortium. The Consortium is a partnership of public and private stakeholders representing multiple manufacturing industry sectors. The overall objective of PDES, Inc. is to accelerate the development and implementation of ISO 10303, more commonly called STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data). F.O.B. Destination, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The period of performance is 2 years from date of award. This is a sole source because this consortium is a key source for industrial input and interaction. NIST will join with other members including NASA, DOD, Boeing, GM, and IBM. Membership in the consortium provides a forum to make known the Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory's (MEL) work in manufacturing integration, supply chain interoperability, and manufacturing standards activities. Consortium memberships provide a basis for collaboration with industry that will assist MEL in directing research efforts in areas that can most benefit US industries. An award shall be made using simplified acquisition procedures approximately 9/27/00. No solicitation package is available.
