- Description
- The work consists of furnishing all equipment, material and labor necessary to construct approximately 17,000 lineal feet of rock riprap dike utilizing approximately 18,000 CY of encapsulated lightwright aggregate for the core of the composite rock dike on the east bank of the Barataria Bay Waterway;approximately 110,000 tons of 650 pound rock riprap to build a foreshore dike along the east bank of the Barataria Waterway; 17 settlement plates to be constructed and placed in the rock dike; approximately 82,400 SY of geotextile to be placed under the rock riprap. The estimated cost of this work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The work will be performed along the east bank of the Baratari Bay Waterway in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. This solicitation is set aside for only 8(a) contractors whose business plans are on file and serviced by SBA district offices in the following eight (8) states: Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. All other firms are deemed ineligable to submit offers. The anticipated contract resulting from this solicitation will be awarded under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the SBA and the Department of Agriculture. Firms requesting copies of the solicitation are to include: (1) written verification/certification of current participation in the 8(a) program; and (2) written certification/verification of compliance with all other applicable SBA 8(a) program participation requirements. Participation is permitted for 8(a) concerns in both the developmental and transitional stages. The resulting contract awarded from this solicitation will be a firm fixed price contract under North American Industry Classification 234990. In order to compete for the solicitation, the 8(a) firm must be able to secure bid bond in amount of 20% of amount bid. The 8(a) firm awarded the contract must be able to secure performance and payment bonds of 100% of amount bid. Solicitation packages will be available on or about October 12, 2000.
