- Description
- The United States Army, CECOM plans to modify the Lightweight Multi-Band Satellite Terminal (LMST) Program contract, DAAB07-95-C-A518, to extend the period of performance for up to five years by incorporating five one-year options. This modification will extend the contract from January 2001 through January 2006. The LMST is a Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS)/Nondevelopmental Item (NDI) Triband Terminal providing an improved long-haul communications capability for forward deployed forces. It provides reach back to CONUS and/or other overseas command centers as part of the United States Air Force Theater Deployable Communications (TDC) requirements. The LMST consists of two terminal versions: the AN/TSC-152, trailer version, and the AN/USC-59, transit case version. Harris Corpopration is the current producer of the LMST which is a C, X, and Ku Band Satellite Earth Terminal. The LMST that will be acquired over the five-year period is an updated version that is hub capable, uses a Versa Module Eurocard (VME) architecture and has Ka Band receive capability. The contract modification will include a Firm-Fixed-Price portion under which the Government will be able to acquire up to 75 LMST systems. It will include Pack-Up Data, CDRL Data, and associated readiness and depot spares. Also included will be a Time and Material portion under which the Government will be able to acquire contractor technical and logistics support. The option years will be structured to allow the Government the flexibility to acquire up to an additional 20 each of the Trailer and Transit Case Hub and Spoke configurations. The new LMST systems are to be delivered beginning mid April 2002. Harris Corporation is the only known source with a COTS/NDI that provides the required technical and operational capabilities. Harris Corporation is the only known source capable of producing the LMST, assuring complete form, fit, and function within the required delivery time. The Government does not possess the technical data to acquire LMSTs from any other source. Harris Corporation controls the LMST system baseline for all production hardware. This is a sole source acquisition with Harris Corporation, Melbourn, FL, authorized under 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1 (a)(1). This notice is for information purposes only and not to be considered a request for offer-proposal. The draft Statement of Work and draft Trailer and Transit Case Specifications are available on the CECOM Interactive Business Opportunity Page. See Note 22.
