Description

10 -- Naval Air Systems Command intends to modify R&D contract N00019-93-C-0006 for a V-22 aircraft defensive weapons system. Bell-Boeing Joint Project Office (JPO), 22398 James Rd. Patuxent River, MD 20670 will perform the effort. The Contractor will be responsible for total system design, integration and qualification testing of a Turreted Gun System and Helmet Tracking System (TGS/HTS). The selection of the vendor to provide the weapon for the TGS has occurred in a trade study under contract N00019-93-C-0006. The Bell-Boeing team is the sole designer, developer and sole producer of MV-22 and CV-22 tilt rotor aircraft and is currently performing the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) and the low-rate initial-production (LRIP) of those aircraft. Bell-Boeing possesses the resources for developing the aircraft weapons system and performing the system testing and analysis. The Contractor has the engineering data; technical skills; and requisite knowledge of the design, fabrication, performance, and operational characteristics of the V-22 aircraft. Therefore, Bell-Boeing is the only source capable of designing, developing and testing the TGS and HTS for integration into the V-22 aircraft design. See Note 22.
