Description

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) intends to extend their current contract with UNUM Provident Insurance Company for one additional year, CY 2001. UNUM Provident Insurance Company currently provides Long-Term Disability Insurance coverage and Employee Assistance Program Service to the OCC. The extension of this purchase order will represent a renewal of OCC_s current policy number 109309, and will not constitute a new policy. The OCC intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document is available. All proposals received with pricing and sufficient technical documentation to establish a bonafide capacity to meet the requirement within seven calendar days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the OCC. A determination not to compete this proposed contract extension based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the OCC. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The OCC is also currently reviewing its insurance requirements for 2002 through 2006. A separate announcement will be issued soliciting interest in those future procurements.
