Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC currently has a requirement for 84mm ammunition and weapons in support of Multi-Role Anti-Armor Anti-Personnel Weapons System (MAAWS). The ammunition required under this effort is fully compatible with the currently fielded MAAWS Carl Gustaf weapons and training adapters. The types of ammunition described below provide armored vehicle denial and penetration, earth and timber bunker incapacitation, and hardened facility penetration. In addition, the ammunition provides personnel denial in open, defilade, or soft/wood frame structures and soft target destruction. The weapons required under this effort have been safety certified, are re-usable, and accommodate a family of ammunition. The rounds and weapons to be procured are as follows: HEAT 551C IM-max qty of 5000/yr; HEDP 502 IM-max quantity of 5000/yr; HE 441 B/D IM-max quantity of 7500/yr; SMOKE 469 B/C-max quantity of 7500/yr; ILLUM 545 B/C-max quantity of 7500/yr; TP 552-max quantity of 7500/yr; TPT 141-max quantity of 10,000/yr; ADM 401-max quantity of 5000/yr; 7.62 Trainer-max quantity of 100,000/year, 20m Trainer- max quantity of 5000/year; M3-84mm Gun-max quantity of 25/year; Sub-Cal Adapters-max quantity of 50/year; Backblast Simulator-max quantity of 50,000/year, Cap w/holder max quantity of 100,000/year. TACOM-ARDEC intends to satisfy the requirement for the above types and quantities of weapons and ammunition through a contract action with SAAB Bofors Dynamics AB, Karlskoga, Sweden. The rounds and weapons will be acquired in a basic contract with four option years. TACOM-ARDEC contemplates this contract action based on Other Than Full and Open Competition based on the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, as the agency s minimum needs can only be satisfied by the unique supplies available from SAAB Bofors Dynamics AB.
