Description

TACOM plans to acquire 44 each M88A2 HERCULES Heavy Recovery Vehicles and associated requirements under a new contract with United Defense L.P. The HERCULES is an armored, full tracked recovery vehicle capable of safely towing, recovering, and evacuating the Main Battle Tank and other heavy combat systems. Of the 44 HERCULES vehicles, 27 are for the US Army and 17 are for the US Marine Corps. Included to support production and fielding of these 44 vehicles will be HERCULES unique major assembly/component spares and MWO kits, Engineering Support to Items in Production (ESIP), and System Technical Support (STS). STS services will be provided in support of US Army and USMC vehicle requirements as well as concurrent Egypt co-production. This action is being initiated on a sole source basis with current HERCULES manufacturer: United Defense Limited Partnership, Ground Systems Division, Post Office Box 15512, York, Pennsylvania 17405-1512. The formal offer due date is expected to be on or about 15 Feb 01. Drawings are not available. This synopsis is for subcontracting possibilities. See Notes 22 and 26.
