- Description
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Brookhaven Group has requested the technical assistance of the TechCon Program (TechCon) to identify QUALIFIED SOURCE(s) that can provide alternative remedial strategies or technologies for the removal or treatment of contaminated sediments and wetlands in the Peconic River at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), Upton, New York. Contractor's with proven sediment removal or treatment technologies may be invited to participate in a Remedial Alternatives Workshop. The areas of interest include sediment removal and handling techniques; wetlands remediation and restoration; phytoremediation; other remediation technologies with relevant project histories; and, decision support tools such as modeling, visualization, and cleanup level determination. A Peconic River Remedial Alternatives Workshop is planned for December 2000. The workshop will help stakeholders identify and evaluate alternative technologies, remedial strategies and associated expertise by drawing on a broad range of resources to insure that all viable alternatives are considered. Regulatory and community stakeholders will actively participate in the workshop A submittal of relevant project experience is required. The submittal should be made at the TechCon web site at http://web.ead.anl.gov/techcon/projects/peconic. In preparation of the workshop, this web site will be used to gather information on different vendor technologies and relevant project histories. The information gathered will be a primary source used for preparing a list of interested sources for remediation contracts. The Record of Decision is anticipated to be signed on or around August 31, 2001. Interested parties can access the Notice, Potential Sources Sought for Peconic River Remedial Alternatives Workshop at:http://web.ead.anl.gov/techcon/projects/peconic. The TechCon web site will provide additional details on the project and links to support documents, questionnaires, and directions for submitting required information. All responses must be posted to the web site by November 10, 2000.
