Description

The Coastal Systems Station, Dahlgren Division, NSWC, Panama City, Florida intends to solicit competitive proposals for a commercially available towed side scan sonar system. Requirements for the system are: Towed speed capability with full bottom imaging coverage to 150 meter range per side -- 2 to 10 knots; Depth -- minimum of 200 meters; Resolution along track -- 20 cm to 75 meter range increasing to 36 cm at 150 meter range; Coverage at 20 cm resolution -- 75 meters per side (150 meters total or 492 feet); Pulse widths -- minimum of 50 and 200 (sec; Range scales -- 150 meter range (300 meter swath) or 75 meter range (150 meter swath); Tow body length -- less than 2 meters; Pressure, pitch and roll, heading, and temperature sensor -- must be included in tow body; Tow body width -- less than 8 inches; Tow body height -- less than 8 inches; Tow cable diameter -- less than 0.7 inch; Tow cable length -- minimum of 600 meters; Navigation system input -- must accept NEMA 0183 input. Delivery will be to the Coastal Systems Station, 6703 West Highway 98, Panama City, Florida, 32407-7001. Required delivery date is 18 November 2000.
