Description
POINT OF SALE SUSTAINMENT/TECHNOLOGY REFRESH PROGRAM, SOL N/A. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) and no award will be made as a result of this Request for Information (RFI); the results of this RFI may or may not result in a future RFP -- FAR 52.215-3 applies. In 1998, the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) completed the installation of a commercial Point-of-Sale (POS) system in 288 military supermarkets worldwide. DeCA is seeking to assess the existing system and sustain the current capability over the next 6-8 years, using proven supermarket technology. The current contract, awarded in February 1996, consists of a 4-year base period with 4 one-year options. The Agency intends to phase in any technology refresh before the final contract option year is completed in 2004. Plans are to leverage in-house technology by focusing on enhancements that reduce operating costs and improve the value of the commissary benefit. Firms interested in participating in such an effort should review the information found at: www.commissaries.com. The 'business page' link at this site contains a list of current store locations, operating hours, system architecture, and other relevant data. This site is the primary means of communication for this effort. Interested firms should submit the following: (a) Innovative, forward-looking business strategy recommendations to include overall schedules. (b) Rough Order of Magnitude pricing to include the overall requirements as described on the web site. (c) Relevant corporate capabilities based upon the above requirements to include the availability of GSA schedule or other similar requirements contracts currently available to the Federal Government. Submit only electronic responses to Ms Sheila Rotter, rotters@scott.disa.mil and Ms Donna Gaillard, postr@hqlee.deca.mil not later than 27 November 2000. This submittal shall not exceed twenty-five (25) pages. Submittals must be compatible with Microsoft Office 97 or in portable document format (PDF).
