Description
This requirement was previously listed in the CBD as submission 454727 on May 15, 2000 as an intent to pre-qualify vendors for the design, development and manufacture of a system interface. You are hereby notified of the cancellation of that notice. The following notice is issued in lieu thereof. The U. S. Postal Service (USPS) is seeking possible sources for the development and integration of a Machine Conversion Device (MCD) into the USPS' Self Service Equipment (SSE). The MCD will allow our model PBMS-624 self-service vending equipment to interface with our VARS/PFT* server system quickly, efficiently and securely. The system must provide TCP/IP protocol communications, as well as dial communications capability. In supporting multiple protocols, the design must be scalable. Over time, the USPS will covert up to 6,000 model PBSM-624 machines to interface with the VARS/PFT platform. The VARS/PFT/MCD system will support machine set-up, debit and credit card processing, machine data collection, acknowledgement, accounting data, servicing alert functions as well as authentication and encryption for vending machines. The interface must meet Postal Service standards. The USPS intends to make a single award to the contractor that offers the best value for the development and integration of the MCD into our SSEs. Further details of this requirement will be described in a formal solicitation package that is anticipated to be released by December, 2000. If you wish to receive a copy of the upcoming solicitation, please e-mail your full contact information to Carla Perez at <cperez02@email.usps.gov> by November 8, 2000. Requests without full contact information (physical and e-mail addresses, fax and telephone numbers) will not be honored. If you previously responded to CBD Submission 454727, dated May 15, 2000, there is no need to request a copy of the solicitation based on this new notice, as one will be sent to you. *VARS/PFT = Vending Activity Reporting System/Postal Financial Transactions.
