Description
The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) wishes to gain a better understanding about the application of standards to plans and providers and is seeking a contractor to catalog the scope and content of quality standards, compare the application of these standards to different types of plans and providers, and conduct research to explain differences and explore the evolution of standards. Health care purchasers, regulators and private accrediting bodies increasingly require health plans and health care providers to measure and report on the quality of care they furnish, and to meet other standards designed to safeguard or improve quality. These requirements raise policy questions regarding the appropriate objective and scope of the quality standards, the burden of compliance, and the desirability and technical feasibility of applying uniform standards across different types of plans and providers. The RFP will be available on or about November 1, 2000. Interested parties must submit a written request to obtain a copy of this proposal. Requests should be sent to Cynthia Wilson at 1730 K St., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC, 20006, 202/653-7220 or by facsimile at 202/653-7238.
