Description
PART: U.S. GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT SUBCLASS SERVICES CLASSCOD: D -- Information Technical Services, including Telecommunications Services OFFADD: AFCA/GCLV, 203 W Losey St, Room 3065, Scott AFB IL 62225-5222 SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR INFORMATION POC: CMSgt Ronald McKenzie, 618-256-6774, Telephone Systems Chief DESC: This announcement constitutes a Request for Information (RFI) synopsis. Information obtained as a result of this synopsis is for planning purposes only. It does not constitute an invitation for sealed bid or request for proposal (RFP), nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the United States Air Force (USAF). The Air Force Communications Agency (AFCA), Local Voice Networks Branch, is developing a ground-breaking Voice Switching Systems (VSS) Architecture designed to provide their major commands (MAJCOMs) and bases with detailed, technical guidance on requirements and configuration for current, near-term, and mid-term telephone systems. The overarching goals of the architecture are standardization and eventual cost reduction. Current and future status: The architecture text is finalized and is awaiting internal agency approval -- after this approval, it will undergo a four-step process for inclusion into the Joint Technical Architecture-Air Force (JTA-AF). Once incorporated into the JTA-AF, it_s mandatory for all USAF MAJCOMS-bases to follow. AFCA seeks a review of their VSS architecture, by AF telephone systems_ vendors, and for the vendors to provide constructive feedback/comments. Although comments are welcome on all sections of the architecture, the sections requiring the most scrutiny are the Emerging Technical Standards and Technical Solutions -- AFCA also wants to know where the private/commercial industry is heading. Responding vendors are requested to provide the feedback within 15 days after the posting date of this notice. Vendors may express interest, make comments and ask questions via electronic mail or fax comments or questions to the Air Force Communications Agency, Voice Networks Branch, at AFCA-GCLV@scott.af.mil, FAX 618-256-8682. All comments and questions must be in writing and must identify the company source, contact person, and telephone number and Fax number. Interested vendors will be provided electronic copy of the architecture. EMAILADD: AFCA-GCLV@scott.af.mil EMAILDESC: CMSgt Ronald McKenzie
