Description

Sources Sought. The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, National Weather Service intends to solicit for repair of 21 each, Optical Disk M2505A, P/N 97-249FOOMOO, ASN: R400-2A19A3. The Government intends to award on a sole-source basis to Bell & Howell Imaging Solutions, Stockton, CA. Bell & Howell Imaging Solutions acquired the Field Services Group of TAB Products Co., including the rights to exclusive service of the Philips LMS LD510 Optical Disk Drive. The exclusive rights entail the end-of-life of the LD510 Optical Disk Drive and the sole responsibility for maintenance, repair and telephone technical support whether covered or not covered under warranty, with the exception of the maintenance responsibility for the Optical Module Assembly and the Actuator Assembly. Bell & Howell Imaging Solutions will furnish labor and material to place in like-new operating condition and good appearance to meet their specifications and/or tolerances of the equipment listed above. The Government does not have specifications or any adequately detailed information to solicit a bid from another source. These items will be delivered to the National Weather Service, Kansas City, MO. The Government knows of only one company authorized to repair the device referenced. Any other small business source authorized to repair the exact make and model of the equipment referenced herein is encouraged to respond to this announcement within 10 days after its publication. Interested firms should submit in writing, its name, address, point of contact, telephone number, business size and a brief statement regarding its capability to repair the specified equipment, and the name, telephone number, and point of contact for businesses or other Government agencies to which it has previously repaired the item. The information should be submitted to the address stated herein or may be faxed to 816-426-7530, attn: Jackie Shewmaker. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation. The Government reserves the right to solicit bids based on receipt of affirmative responses to this notice or issue an order to Bell & Howell Imaging Solutions, whichever is determined to be more advantageous to the Government without further notice. The action is 100% set-aside for small business. The small business size standard is 500 employees.
