Description
This is a market survey for the purpose of obtaining qualified Small Business Set Aside sources for laundry/tailoring services for the National Institutes of Health/Clinical Center. This is not a request for proposals or quotes, and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The Standard Industrial Classification Code for this project is 7211,and under the NAICS Classification System the code is 81232, Power Laundries, Family and Commercial. The NIH's Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center currently operates a laundry for a 350 bed hospital devoted solely to research. This laundry service also provides for 40 buildings on the NIH campus and includes off campus facilities; Animal Center in Poolesville, Maryland, programs at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital, National Naval Hospital and several rental buildings in Bethesda, Baltimore, Gaithersburg, and Rockville, MD. These services include pickup and delivery for Government-owned linen and garments for patients care areas estimated, 780,000lbs; repairs lf linen and garments estimated 2562ea; marking and stenciling estimated 1500ea; Government-owned laboratory coats, smocks and uniforms for laboratory areas, shop areas and animal care areas-estimated 223,620ea; dying of government owned towels processed-estimated 3,000lbs; repair of linen and garments-estimated 2400ea; alterations for linen and garments estimated 21,600ea; marking and stenciling of identifications and emblems estimated 30,000ea. The services provided must meet the criteria in accordance with the guidelines of the Accreditation Manual for Health Care Organizations. The purpose of the market survey is to identify Small businesses capable of meeting the requirements above and help NIH understand the state of the laundry services market and to set realistic expectations of what service, function and capability are available. Information collected via this market survey will in no way be used to limit or screen potential contractors from future consideration for selection. Vendors who desire to participate in the market survey and identify their capabilities submit information either electronically or fax by no later than November 17, 2000. The Government will not pay for the collection or preparation of any information submitted. Any and all proprietary and restricted information provided on or in addition to that requested should be clearly marked.
