Description
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source purchase order to Vail Summit Resorts, Inc., Keystone, Colorado for lodging required during the period 3 January 2001 through 2 February 2001 for multi-echelon cold weather training exercises by the 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, CO. Number of efficiency rooms and dates are as indicated: 4 room during 3-5 Jan 01; 6 rooms during 3-9 Jan 01; 2 rooms during 3-14 Jan 01; 8 rooms during 8-11 Jan 01; 8 rooms during 16-19 Jan 01; 4 rooms during 21 Jan 01; 33 rooms during 22 Jan 01 -2 Feb 01. Efficiency rooms shall include toasters, small refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers, and shall sleep 4 people per room. Number of bedroom type units and dates are as indicated: 3 each rooms with 3 bedrooms each during 22 Jan 01 -- 2 Feb 01; 2 each rooms with 2 bedrooms each during 22 Jan 01 -- 2 Feb 01. One Wax Room shall be available during 3 Jan 01 -- 2 Feb 01. FAR 6.302-1 is cited as sole source authority using the following criteria: (1) terrain in the backcountry must accommodate all skiing skill levels from beginner to advanced (2) all soldiers shall be co-located for lodging (3) training areas shall be close to the lodging areas to minimize safety risks on icy roads, and to decrease support requirements in an effort to reduce cost and increase the number of soldiers that are able to participate in the training, preferably within 300 to 400 yards from the slopes (4) communications from training areas and support areas shall be achievable (5) ground MEDEVAC shall support transporting injured personnel anywhere within training areas to treatment facility within one hour (6) medical support facilities shall be able to support potential life threatening injuries and shall be located as close to the training areas as possible (7) training areas shall be accessible by ground vehicle (8) facility shall be able to accommodate a minimum of 100 people at a time. Two meeting rooms shall be accessible, one with a minimum of 1000 square foot; the second room shall accommodate a minimum of 170 soldiers at any given time. This is not a formal solicitation. This synopsis is not considered a request for proposals or quotations. No solicitation document is available and telephone request will not be honored. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but will be used to determine if a comparable source or offers are available and more advantageous to the Government. If no affirmative written response is received, the purchase will be awarded without further notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
