Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake intends to procure, on an other than full and open competition basis, up to 61,000 pounds of CXM-9 explosive IAW MIL-E-82895(OS)) and up to 6,880 pounds of HMX explosive IAW MIL-DTL-45444 from a limited number of responsible sources. The sources consist of Dyno Industries AS Defense Products, N3475 Saetre, Norway; Royal Ordnance of North America (RONA), Holston Army Ammunition Plant, Kingsport, TN; and Mil-Spec Industries Corp., 10 Mineola Ave., Roslyn Heights, NY 11577. Dyno Industries AS Defense Products, RONA and Mil-Spec Industries Corp. are the only sources currently qualified or capable of becoming qualified before the date specified for award of the contract, for CXM-9 and HMX explosives. The explosives will be used in SLAM ER warheads. The contract will extend for three years from date of award. Year One will have a base quantity of 7,000 pounds of CXM-9 explosive with option quantities of 1,000 pounds, 2,000 pounds, 4,000 pounds and 8,000 pounds of CXM-9. Year One will also have base quantities of 600 pounds Class 1, 400 pounds Class 3 and 480 pounds of Class 5 HMX explosive with option quantities of 400 pounds Class 1, 400 pounds Class 3, and 360 pounds Class 5 HMX explosive. Year Two will have a basic option quantity of 4,000 pounds CXM-9 explosive with additional option quantities of 1,000 pounds, 2,000 pounds, 4,000 pounds and 8,000 pounds of CXM-9 explosive. Year Two will also have option quantities of 800 pounds Class 1, 600 pounds Class 3 and 720 pounds Class 5 HMX explosive. Year Three will have a basic option quantity of 5,000 pounds CXM-9 explosive with additional option quantities of 1,000 pounds, 2,000 pounds, 4,000 pounds and 8,000 pounds of CXM-9 explosive. Year Three will also have option quantities of 800 pounds Class 1, 600 pounds Class 3 and 720 pounds Class 5 HMX explosive. Award is anticipated in April 2001 and delivery of year one explosives is due in 2001. Year two explosives will be due in 2002 and year three in 2003.
