CONFERENCE NOTICE, 22nd ARMY SCIENCE CONFERENCE, 11-13 DECEMBER 2000, RENAISSANCE HARBORPLACE HOTEL, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND. The 22nd Army Science Conference will be held at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, Baltimore, Maryland, 11-13 December 2000. The conference theme is "Accelerating the Pace of the Transformation to the Objective Force." The Biennial conference was inaugurated in 1957 to provide a forum for presentation, discussion, and recognition of significant accomplishments by U.S. Army scientists and engineers in their efforts to support the combat soldier of tomorrow. The three-day meeting will feature the presentation of papers and posters that will focus on key emerging technologies. The keynote addresses will be given by The Honorable Louis Caldera, Secretary of the Army, and GEN Eric Shinseki, Chief of Staff of the Army. Invited addresses will be given by The Honorable Paul Hoeper, Assistant Secretary of the Army (ALT), and GEN John Coburn, Commanding General, U.S. Army Materiel Command. The setting will encourage face-to-face discussions between presenters and conference attendees. Attendance will be beneficial to both management and technical personnel from industry, universities, and Government who have an interest in the application of new scientific and engineering technologies. The Conference promises to strengthen the industry/Government and university/Government partnership and help pave the way to future successes in U.S. Army R&D programs. Planned Sessions include: Advanced Materials and Manufacturing; Microelectronics and Photonics; Advanced Propulsion Technologies; Engineering Sciences; Environmental and Geosciences; Biomedical and Behavioral Sciences; Force Protection (Includes WMD Defense); High Performance Computing and Simulation; Soldier Systems; and Sensors and Information Processing.
