Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Landscape design modification and continuing landscape maintenance at El Portal Tropical Forest Center, Caribbean National Forest. Bidders must have current membership in the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Work to be completed under this contract includes: vegetative clearing and weed removal of improved grounds and landscaped areas; removal of approximately 97 trees; tree pruning; transplant on-site plant materials; furnish and install palms, trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants and vines; furnish and install interior ground planters and column orchids; furnish and install planters for installation in pools; furnish and install vegetation identification signage; provide maintenance of the El Portal grounds for a period of one year in accordance with the Grounds Maintenance Plan, with an option to renew the grounds maintenance for up to three subsequent years. Work to begin approximately January 16, 2001. ESTIMATE COST RANGE: $100,000 to $200,000. PROJECT LOCATION: The El Portal Visitor Center is near Palmer (Rio Grande county), Puerto Rico, at Km 4.2 on Road 191. SITE SHOWING: A non-mandatory site showing will be conducted November 29, 2000 at 9:30 am. Meet in the parking lot of the Visitor Center near the entrance walkway.
