Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Forecast Systems Laboratory (FSL) has a requirement for direct assist support for Varitas Netbackup software installed on a SUN E3002 server, NDMP and client software that is installed on most computer systems within FSL. This backup system is critical to FSL, as all UNIX, PC and Macintosh systems use this software for routine partial, full, and offsite backups. The software support must provide the following: 1) technical support for both client agents and management, 2) readily available software updates and patches as equipment is added or deleted, 3) phone support to resolve problems, and 4) immediate performance improvement of the backups and restores. This announcement/solicitation is being issued under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures, FAR Part 13 (NTE $100,000.00) and is not a request for quotes. There is no bid package available. The award decision will be based upon the best value to the Government, with technical merit, past performance and availability being significantly more important than price. The Government intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, with Veritas Software, Inc., Mountain View, CA, for their Veritas Netbackup software.
