Description
This completion type contract provides for the design, fabrication, and testing of up to 40 Autonomous Surveillance Nodes (ASN) over a six year period. Each ASN consists of a 100 meter array with hydrophones, three magnetometers, and an electric-field sensor, one or more pressure housings that contain signal processing electronics and a primary battery power supply, an acoustic underwater communications subsystem, and hardware and rigging to be attached to the array for the purpose of deployment and recovery. The base effort will include the design, fabrication, and testing of 15 ASNs. The first option effort, if exercised, will consist of the refurbishment and upgrade of the initial 15 ASNs after at-sea tests are conducted. The second option effort, if exercised, will consist of the fabrication of 25 additional ASNs. The third option effort, if exercised, will consist of the refurbishment of all 40 ASNs after completion of a second phase at-sea testing.
