Description
The U. S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) intends to solicit this effort for the continuance of the operation and maintenance of the Simulation Center (SC). The SC is a self-contained fully operational computer center. The SC provides hundreds of USASMDC, Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), High Performance Computing Modernization Office (HPCMO), authorized contractors, and other government agencies (OGAS) a centralized resource for classified and unclassified supercomputer processing, high performance vector and scalar computing, high density on line data-storage, multimedia, data visualization, modeling and simulation, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), networked communications, software development, technical and administrative support services. The SC is located at the USASMDC building in Huntsville, Alabama's Cummings Research Park East. The SC is the Southeastern Hub for the BMDO Virtual Data Center (VDC) and is a major component of the SMDC High Performance Computing Distributed Center (HPCDC). The SC is connected to the USASMDC Advanced Research Center (ARC) via high-speed communications links. The SC contractor manages the day-to-day operation of the SC, which includes technical and administrative services, operation, maintenance, security, and management requirements for the SC. The SC is a computational resource that is provided to meet users requirements and will require a high degree of cooperation with personnel of government agencies and other USASMDC support contractors. To meet these computational requirements, availability, and reliability of the computer system(s) must be maximized through efficient operations and maintenance procedures. In addition, fault tolerant computing, evaluation of hardware/software resources for state of the art systems, supercomputing processing support, computer and facility security, modeling and simulation support, communications, and data transmission protocols/networking is required to support vast and dynamic missile defense architectures such as National Missile Defense (NMD), Theatre Missile Defense (TMD), and Cruise Missile Defense (CMD). A SECRET facility clearance will be required for this effort. This sources sought announcement is not a solicitation for proposals, however, any firm competent to perform the effort described above should submit written qualifications statements to SMDC-CM-AK, Ms. Beverly R. Fowler at the address above, within fifteen (15) days from the date of publication of this notice. Qualification statements shall reference DASG60-00-0017 and shall not exceed fifteen (15) pages. A Secret facility clearance will be required for this effort. This acquisition is not open to foreign participation. The NAICS code is 541710, the small business size standard is 1,000 employees.
