- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number, USZA99-01-Q-0021, is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-12. This procurement is unrestricted. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. This contract is for twelve complete moveable partion with belting and wood frame work and one hundred wood jamb, rough sub-frame with the following specifications. The movable ballistic partitions are to be exact replacements for currently installed partitions that are part of a movable partition system installed by Caswell Detroit Armor. The main panel is to be made of AR-500 steel with a Brinnell Hardness 480-520 with the following dimensions: 1/4" x 80 1/2" x 36". The panel must have strips welded around the edge of various widths and thicknesses. These strips are also AR-500 steel. The strips must have studs welded in place to accept wooden pieces to allow the attachment of cam devices and receptacles to lock the partitions together with already installed Caswell Detroit Armor partitions. The strips are also used to attach hardware on the top and bottom of the partition to allow the partition to connect with the already installed rolling track system to allow the partition to be pushed in its track. The panel is to come installed with the wooden studs that mount on the inside of the AR-500 strips and are held in place by the studs welded to the strips. These wooden studs are to be manufactured to allow the accepting of cam locking devices. Cutting or shearing operations shall leave clean, true lines and surfaces. All slag and rough edges shall be removed. Surface shall be clean and free from mill scale, flake rust, rust pitting, oil, grease, dirt, or other foreign matter. The AR-500 steel edge strips must be tightly clamped prior to welding. Max allowable gap between edge of main plate and edge strips is 1/64". Entire AR-500 steel weldment is to be primed to a minimum thickness of 2 mil using gray waterbase primer. This is to be done prior to attachment of wooden strips. Each side of the partition shall have 1/2" rubber covering the entire panel and have holes in the appropriate location to allow access to the cam operating bolts. The wood jamb shall be rough subframe, material nominal 2x8 stud light framing or Number 3 structural light framing lumber, ripped to 6" width. 84"long, 14 holes, 5 eqsp at 12 each,3/8" dia thru w/ 11/16" x 82 degrees countersinks, finished jamb shall be one piece, free of cracks, breaks and knot holes. Solicitation Provisions at FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors-Commerical Items (June 1999) is hereby incorporated by reference. Solicitation Provision FAR 52.212-2, Evaluation-Commerical Items (Jan 1999) is hereby incorporated. Contractors are reminded to submit a complete copy of the provision at 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications-Commercial Items (Jun 1999) with their quote, if readily available. If not, the clause will be forwarded for completion prior to award. Clause 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions -- Commerical Items (May 1999) is hereby incorporated by reference. Clause 52.212-5. Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statutes or Executive Orders- Commerical Items (May 1999). Questions pertaining to the solicitation must be submitted in writing and may be faxed to 757-492-7954. Signed and dated quotes referencing the RFQ number USZA99-01-Q-0021 must be submitted, no later thatn 4:30p.m. 29 November 2000. The quotes must provide sufficient detail on the proposed system to allow the government to make a determination.
