Description
Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to construct a new 1,720 square foot per floor, two story wood frame Station Building supported on wood piles and a 12" by 48" concrete grade beam located on the grounds of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, Nassau County, NY The exterior facade of the new building shall be brick veneer and vertical ribbed metal panels. The miscellaneous associated work shall also include but not be limited to: the removal of seven medium size trees, demolition of an existing parking lot, construction of a new bituminous parking lot, construction of new concrete steps and retaining wall, construction of a communications tower and the connection of the building utilities to the existing utilities. An additional Optional Item shall provide for the performance of waterfront work which shall include the relocation of two existing timber floating docks at the site plus the transport of Coast Guard owned concrete floats from Ft. Totten in Queens, NY and their installation at Kings Point. This Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small business participation. This project including the Optional Item is estimated between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The applicable NAICS Code is 233320. The tentative date for receipt of bids is 28 December 2000. Bid packages will be available on or about 28 November 2000 at a non-refundable charge of $140. Certified Checks or money orders should be made payable to Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard. All relevant solicitation documents including specifications and drawings may be accessed for download for free commencing on the date of issue at the following website: http://www.eps.gov. Any amendments issued under this solicitation shall also be posted on this website. Also, you may refer to a list of other printers on the U.S. Coast Guard CEU/PROVIDENCE website at http://www.uscg.mil/mlclant/ceuprovidence. Printers on this list may be able to download and print the solicitation and drawings and specifications for a fee. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
