Description
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a requirement for two stepper motors which meet the following generic specifications: 1) Power source: bipolar drive with approximately eight ampers maximum current, e.g. Parker Compumotor Zeta drive, 2) Torque at 30 revolutions per minute: 2.8 oz-in first motor and 1.6oz-in for second motor. 3) Gear Backlash: better than 10 arc minutes; 4) Step angle: 1.8 degree and 3 percent accuracy; 5) Motor Construction: waterproof stainless steel outer shell, shaft and bearing, oil filled and pressure equalized. Build in electrically released brake operating at 28VDC and holds the motor when power fails; 6) Operating temperature range: minus 40 degrees centigrade plus 60 degrees centigrade; 7) Motor spze: lenght-no more than 16.65 inches, motor diameter no more than 4.25 inches, keyed shaft: diameter 1.125 inches, length 1.89 inches. Temperature sensor (RTD) inside of the motors is required. A drawing for motor flange will be provided upon request. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with Empire Magnetics, Inc. of Rohnert Park, California. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
