Description

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases intends to procure the following services from Vanderbilt University: 1) Administrative support for recruitment of infants and children to participate in trials of live attenuated respiratory Syncytial Virus and Parainfluenza virus type-3 vaccines; 2) Laboratory testing of specimens from the trials conducted. Vanderbilt University is uniquely qualified to provide these services as these trials have been conducted at Vanderbilt University under a CRADA for the last 5 years. The personnel involved in the conduct of the trials are recognized experts in the field of pediatric vaccine development and in assay development, especially in the measurement of local mucosal immune responses to vaccines and in the determination of phenotypic stability of vaccine candidates after replication in humans. Vanderbilt University has become the central laboratory for measuring immune response using the difficult neutralization assay and for determining the efficiency of plague formation of temperature sensitive vaccine candidates recovered from vaccines at various temperatures. Vanderbilt also has experience in evaluating vaccines in the pediatric age population. The closing date for submission of written responses is forty-five (45) days after publication of this notice.
