Description
Air Force Research Laboratory, Propulsion Directorate (AFRL/PR) hereby announces a Presolicitation Conference to initiate the Integrated High Performance Turbine Engine Technology (IHPTET) VII. The conference is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2000 from 0830 -- 1130 (EST) located at Wright-Patterson AFB OH, Building 18, 1950 Fifth Street, in the Main Conference Room (First Floor). The IHPTET Program is a joint DoD/NASA/DARPA/Industry effort to develop revolutionary and innovative technologies by the 2005 timeframe that will permit a doubling of turbo-propulsion capabilities over the 1987 technology state-of-the-art. To achieve this goal Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Propulsion Directorate and Materials and Manufacturing Directorate have committed resources to the development of an advanced technology base for materials, aero-thermodynamics and innovative structures; the development of advanced components, and the assessment and verification of these components in demonstrator engines. Six U.S. turbine engine companies have joined in this effort by developing Air Force (AF) -- coordinated Advanced Turbo Propulsion Plans (ATPPs) which maps out their planned future turbo-propulsion R&D consistent with the goals of the IHPTET Program and the Versatile Affordable Advanced Turbine Engines (VAATE) initiative. Prospective offerors shall have a DoD-coordinated ATPP, shall develop one prior to proposal submittal, or shall have a documented working relationship with a company with a DoD-coordinated ATPP. Conference topics to be discussed include: AFRL/PR organization, IHPTET initiative, Demonstrators, High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) overview, Materials overview, Cost reduction, Lubrication, PRDA (Program Research and Development Announcement) VII details. The tentative schedule for the solicitation release is 05 January 2001 with closing date of 21 February 2001. Direct questions to the Contracting point of contact identified in the announcement.
