17. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) anticipates procuring a Currency Finishing System that will consist of both a Numbering Letterpress and a Cutting & Packaging Machine. The system will be used to print the serial numbers, seals, and other printing on whole sheets and then cut and package the sheets into strap, 100 notes, bundle, 1000 notes, and brick, 4000 notes. Enhancements for the Numbering Letterpress desired by the Bureau include a color inspection system to examine the full sheets and to not print on those that contain spoilage. The BEP is trying to determine the commercial availability of the equipment and has prepared a Commercial Item Questionnaire as well as a draft statement of work to aid in this market research.
