Description
NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for NASA Standard Initiators. The initiator shall include the following components: a. Body assembly design shall include electrical connector b. Electrical header with two pins (one bridgewire) c. Charge cup d. Pyrotechnic charge e. Insulating disks and washer f. End closure g. Weld washer (as required) h. All hardware required to complete assembly, including sealing materials and internal "O" ring. 1.2.1.1 CONSTRUCTION All details of construction of the initiator shall provide for maximum reliability, safety of personnel, minimum weight, and maximum operating utility. The selected contractor will establish and qualify its production and manufacturing operation in accordance with the Government-furnished Statement of Work and NSI Design and Performance Specifications. The contractor must be a qualified source for the NSI in order to be considered a responsible source for manufacturing the initiators. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 325920 and 750, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-C9. The provisions and clauses in the RFO and model contract are those in effect through FAC 97-20. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about 12/05/00 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about 01/11/00. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
