Description

The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC has a product improvement effort to enhance the insensitive munitions (IM) performance of the 120mm mortar M934A1 high explosive (HE) cartridge by reducing its sensitivity and reactivity to unintended thermal and shock stimuli. The planned multi-phase contract contemplates potential modifications to the Composition B explosive fill, the steel shell body, and the packaging containers to effect the desired enhancement. Completion of the contract will result in the delivery of approximately 800 IM-enhanced HE cartridges for Government test and evaluation 24 months after contract award. Potential offerors should possess experience in the manufacture and loading of IM explosives and packaging of large caliber munitions. The outcome of this effort is expected to improve the future IM production capabilities of the U.S./Canadian Mortar industrial base. The solicitation is being issued on an unrestricted basis.
