Description

The Joint Strike Fighter Program intends to conduct a limited competition for award of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) contract. The principal objective of the JSF EMD Program is to demonstrate affordability, through definition, development, verification, production and support of a family of strike fighter air systems, composed of air vehicle and support and training systems and mission planning interfaces that significantly reduce lifecycle costs while meeting service requirements. The JSF Concept Demonstration Program (CDP) contractors, The Boeing Company and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, are the only responsible sources capable of competing for the EMD contract and therefore, a limited competition is being held. A draft Call For Improvement (CFI) was synopsized on 15 June 2000. The formal CFI was released on 13 November 2000.
