- Description
- The USAID Bogot Colombia Mission requires technical assistance to enhance and broaden the respect for human rights in Colombia through the prevention, protection and response to the human rights situation in Colombia, as well as attending to the special needs of vulnerable groups. The focus will be primarily on first generation human rights, including civil and political rights, such as freedom from torture, coercion, forced disappearance and arbitrary acts of war, and second generation rights, to include economic, social and cultural rights. Technical assistance will be achieved through the following three program components: Prevention of Human Rights Abuses; Protection of Human Rights Workers; and Responding to Human Rights Abuses and Concerns. The desired services outlined in the three essential program components, are intended to contribute to creating a more responsive, participatory and accountable democracy in Colombia. Activities will take place on national, regional, and local levels in designated regions within the country of Colombia. The proposed requirement is estimated to be a five-year $28 million effort.
