Description
This is a market survey for assessing interest in providing earthen fill for the Federal Levee, Missouri River Levee System L-385 proposed for construction to protect against Missouri River, Line Creek, and Burlington Creek flood events in the vicinity of Riverside, Missouri in Platte County. The levee route begins at the bluff adjacent Burlington Creek's left bank. It proceeds along Burlington Creek's left bank to the Missouri River and parallels the Missouri River left bank to Line Creek and then routes to the north paralleling Line Creek's right bank and ties into the bluff adjacent Highway 9. The routing resumes on Line Creek's left bank at the bluff and routes south along the left bank following Highway 9 to the east and ties into the bluff north of Highway 9. Earthen fill material types of interest include pervious (SW, SP, GW, and/or GP) and impervious (CL, CH, and/or ML) materials as classified by ASTM D 2487. Parties interested in providing materials must be willing to perform all efforts necessary to meet Corps of Engineers' engineering, regulatory, environmental, and cultural requirements prior to advertisement of the levee construction contract. Detailed requirements will be listed in the request for proposal. Approval of a fill source will not guarantee use as part of this construction contract. Approved fill sources will only be made available to prospective bidders. Contractor may elect to use some, none, or the entire fill source. Up to approximately 2 million cubic yards of impervious or combination of impervious and pervious may be necessary to construct this project. Approved fill sources will have to be reserved until the awarded contractor is determined and if the awarded Contractor bid is based on the fill source, until completion of the construction contract. The Corps of Engineers reserves the right to eliminate an interested source of fill if it is believed the source of fill will add excessive unit cost due to the available quantity and relative location of the source to the levee.
