Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis with Wyeth-Lederle Vaccines (WLV) for the purchase of 150,000 vials of diluent for the reconstitution of government owned Smallpox vaccine (Brand name Dryvax). Authority 41 U.S.C. 253( c)(1), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. WLV currently holds the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) license for Dryvax vaccine and must approve the final formulation, filtration, aseptic filling, terminal sterilization, inspection, labeling and packaging of the diluent. WLV will need to perform all additional testing necessary for release of the diluent and obtain FDA approval for using this diluent with the Dryvax vaccine. Each vial shall be 3 ml in size with a 2.5 ml fill of approved diluent. Packaged diluent shall be delivered to the Dryvax storage site. Interested sources that believe they can meet this requirement may request Solicitation No. 2001-N-00024 in writing, (including facsimile requests to 770-488-2670). No telephone requests. The solicitation will be issued on or about 12/5/00.
