- Description
- The U. S. Army Natick Research and Development Enterprise at the Soldier and Biological Chemical Command, Natick, MA is conducting a market investigation to identify domestic products, suppliers and manufacturers of neck protectors used with civil disturbance/riot control helmets. The U. S. Army is interested in locating firms with capabilities to provide commercial neck protectors that might satisfy the military requirement for improved, neck protection for Soldiers wearing a military protective helmet for civil disturbance operations. The neck protector must be capable of the following: a. Cover and protect the Soldier's neck from exposure to flammable liquids and hand thrown projectiles such as rocks, sticks and glass. b. Be made of materials that are resistant to wear and decay. c. Be made of materials that do not sorb or that are adversely affected by flammable liquids or that are made of materials that burn, flow or melt drip when exposed to fire/flame. d. Be capable of being attached to all sizes of the standard military Personal Armor System, Ground Troops (PASGT) helmet (Required) and Civilian Civil Disturbance helmet (Desired) without any permanent modification to the helmet. e. Shall not restrict the Soldier's head movement. f. Interface/interoperate with military-approved, ballistic and non-ballistic face shields. g. Be Camouflage Green 483, Woodland Camouflage or Black in color. Interested sources must, within thirty (30) days following the publication of this synopsis, respond with information on their product(s). Interested sources shall include information detailed in the CBD Note 25 regarding a firm's experience, personnel, and facilities. Information should include product cost, literature and illustrations, relevant company background/experience, and a sample. Firms responding shall indicate whether or not they are a small business. Any information/samples submitted will not be returned. If a firm chooses to submit samples, no payment will be made by the Government for such samples. This notice is for market research only. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. No solicitation document exists.
