Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency intends to issue a modification to a sole source contract with the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR), California Environmental Protection Agency, Sacramento, California which will extend the contract through 30 September 2001 and provide an additional year of data. The U.S. EPA relies heavily on data from the California Pesticide Illness Surveillance Program for evidence of the nature and extent of human health effects related to pesticide exposure. The California Environmental Protection Agency will continue to use other sources of medical records to validate and evaluate the current system based primarily on Doctor First Reports provided under the workers compensation system and will provide an additional year of data. The evaluation of the system will permit an assessment of the quality of the information and the extent of under-reporting to the state that occurs among Poison Control Center cases. See Numbered Note 22.
