Description
The Coast Guard intends to issue a request for proposal to upgrade the existing hangar by providing a comprehensive seismic upgrade of the brick and steel structure. The existing hangar building will have a new and more efficient heating and distribution system. The hangar lean-tos will be remodeled and electrical and signal systems will be upgraded. Improvements include a new two-story, 7300 SF hangar addition, constructed of reinforced concrete spread footings, concrete slab on grade, structural steel post/beam structure, masonry exterior walls matching the existing hangar walls, standing seam metal roofing, and metal stud interior partitions. The new structure shall include an energy efficient envelope with wall and roof insulation, double glazed windows and insulated exterior doors to meet energy design criteria. Environmentally sensitive work includes removal of asbestos materials, new steel connections to existing lead painted structures, and removal of petroleum contaminated soil. Contract duration is 365 days. The Government Estimate range is $2.5 to $4 million. A firm fixed price contract will be awarded to the offeror whose offer represents the best value to the Government based on price, technical qualifications and past performance.
