Description

NASA/ARC plans to issue a IFB/ Request for Offers for "Building 19 Seismic & Egress Modifications". The work to be performed under this contract consists of providing the labor, equipment, and materials for the seismic and egress upgrades of a reinforced concrete building, designated as a historical landmark, to meet the current design codes. The seismic upgrades will be achieved by strategically thickening the exterior walls with reinforced shotcrete. The egress deficiencies are mostly remedied by replacing the exterior steel stairs to the second floor. In addition, all non-compliant stair exits will be modified, interior doors removed, a non-compliant restroom demolished, the parking lot partially re-striped and all non-compliant handrails replaced. The project is comprised of a base bid, and two options to do additional seismic upgrades along specific wall locations. The Prime Contractor must perform, as a minimum, 20% of the project work. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 334 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, and shall be advertised as "Full and Open Competition". The NAICS Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 233320 and $27.5 Million, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB/RFO is on or about December 4, 2000 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about January 11, 2001. The firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be stated in the IFB/RFO. All requests for copies of solicitation RFO2-36854-GLH should be in writing and directed to Mr. Mike Wilkerson. Verbal requests will not be accepted. Facsimile requests will not be accepted. THERE WILL BE A NON-REFUNDABLE CHARGE OF $45.00 FOR EACH SET OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. MAKE CHECK PAYABLE TO BECHTEL NATIONAL, INC., AND MAIL TO THE ATTENTION OF MR. MIKE WILKERSON, MAIL STOP 213-11.
