Description

1. Bechtel Nevada is seeking sources for the following requirement. 2. The project is expected to provide for the renovation/reconstruction of the worst segments (approximately 15.6 miles) on the Mercury Highway from the southern boundary of the Nevada Test Site (NTS) to the intersection of Rainer Mesa Road in Area 3. These repairs consist of cold-in-place recycling of the existing pavement in areas of medium or high fatigue stress and applying a new asphaltic concrete overlay. The segments of roadway chosen for renovation are from the southern boundary of the NTS to Gate 100 and from Gate 200 to Cane Springs Road. If additional funds become available, then the next segments of roadway will start at the intersection of Rainer Mesa Road and work south as far as the additional funds will allow. This project will also provide for the reconstruction of 2.5 miles of Rainer Mesa Road from the intersection of Mercury Highway to Road 4-04 (access road to Big Explosive Experiment Facility) in Area 4. These repairs will consist of total reconstruction of the roadbed and the application of asphaltic pavement. 3. A small portion of a paved parking area on the east side of Mercury Highway, just inside the main gate (Gate 100), will be converted to accomodate overnight parking of one or two tractor-trailer hauling hazardous loads. This minor conversion will involve moving concrete bumpers, restriping, adding signage, and similar work to meet agreements with the State of Nevada. 4. The Request for Proposal is expected to be issued approximately 12-11-2000 with a response date by 1-10-2001. 5. This acquisition is being set aside for small business concerns.
